Scout

Scout is Terrace’s AI, and it has two sides. It watches your operation around the clock and tells you about things you’d otherwise miss, and it works alongside you, taking tasks off your plate when you ask. The watching is what makes it worth having.

A second set of eyes

You can’t be everywhere. Scout can. It continuously watches your inventory, orders, and customers, and flags issues before they turn into costly problems: the batch that’s about to run short, the regular who’s quietly stopped ordering, the order that doesn’t look right. These are the things that don’t announce themselves until it’s too late, and Scout’s job is to catch them early. It’s always on, and it’s on your phone in the field, not just at a desk.

Ask Scout anything

Scout is also a chat assistant. Ask questions about your operation in plain English and get an answer instantly, with no menus, no exports, and no digging:

• “Show me revenue this month”
• “Orders due this week”
• “Help me send an invoice”

And it doesn’t just answer. Tell Scout what you want in plain language and it can:

• Create orders and plan truck loads
• Send invoices and assign drivers
• Update order statuses and log operations
• Generate revenue reports and charts

You’re always in control

Scout drafts and recommends, and never acts behind your back. Nothing is created, sent, or changed until you confirm it. You get the speed of an assistant with the final say on everything.

Tune what Scout watches

Owners and admins can shape Scout’s alerts from Account → AI monitoring. If Scout is too loud, too quiet, or flags something that’s just how your farm operates, this is where to adjust.

Guards

Each guard covers one kind of alert. Turn any of them off and Scout stops producing that type:

• Missing regular orders: when a customer with a weekly rhythm hasn’t ordered on their usual day.
• Customer activity alerts: when a regular has quietly stopped ordering. Escalates through low, medium, and high as the gap grows, and clears itself when they order again.
• Invoice overdue alerts: when an unpaid invoice passes its due date. Set Minimum days overdue to control how much slack you give before Scout speaks up.
• Inventory monitoring: the master toggle for stock-related alerts, with two sub-switches:
  • Predictive depletion forecast: uses sales velocity to predict run-out dates before you hit zero.
  • Threshold alerts: fires low-stock and out-of-stock alerts against each product’s reorder point.
  • Default lead time: how many days ahead of a predicted run-out Scout should warn you.

Order anomaly sensitivity

Sensitivity only affects the order anomaly guard — the check that runs on every new order for unusual pricing or discounts:

• Conservative: only flags extreme anomalies. Best if you sell a wide range of items at custom prices.
• Standard (recommended): balanced detection.
• Sensitive: catches smaller deviations. Best if your pricing is tight and consistent.

Dismissing an alert

Every alert can be dismissed in one tap. A snackbar then offers Add reason — completely optional, but it’s how Scout learns. You can pick a reason chip (Not accurate, Normal for us, Already handled, Too many alerts like this), add a note, or flip Don’t alert me about this customer again to suppress future alerts of that type for that customer.

Saved farm knowledge

When you tell Scout something in chat like “remember that Blue Ridge Grocery always buys triple on holiday weeks,” it drafts a fact and asks you to confirm it. Confirmed facts appear under Saved farm knowledge in AI monitoring settings, and Scout uses them to quiet alerts that would otherwise fire and to answer chat questions more accurately. Every fact is visible and reversible:

• Toggle a fact Active or Off to keep or pause it without losing it.
• Delete a fact permanently with the trash icon (owner or admin).

What Terrace has learned

Below your saved knowledge, Scout shows a read-only summary of how your farm has been engaging with alerts over the last 60 days — how many fired, how many you acted on, and how many you dismissed. If a particular alert type is being dismissed consistently, Scout will quiet it automatically. It will never make itself louder on its own, and any tunable you set explicitly always wins.

Scout is available on every screen. Open it from Ask Terrace in the sidebar, or the quick-access button that follows you across the app. It works the same on your phone as on your computer.
